Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary Spoiler Review

Title: Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary

Author: Brandon Mull

Series: Fablehaven

This book was absolutely amazing! I am just going to jump right into what I have to say about it because it is the 4th book in the series and if you haven’t read the first 3 then you probably don’t want to read any further in this review.

Unlike the other 3, the action in this book started intense and pretty much from the get go. The first chapter was a catch up on the in-between time between this and the 3rd book. But by the 2nd chapter Kendra is knocked out and kidnapped. The kidnapper, “Rex”, is a stingbulb, which apparently is a fruit that pricks you and becomes a body double, of the real Rex. He makes another stingbulb prick Kendra in order to pose as her for her parents. Its crazy what Brandon Mull can think up of, and is a reason I love this series so much. Kendra gets taken to a lectoblix’s home, which is some kind of magical being that sucks the souls of others in order to stay young. She doesn’t want to take Kendra’s soul but house her for the Sphinx. I mean this all happens within the first few chapters, which is insane.

Meanwhile the Kendra stand in is posing as Kendra and ends up poisoning herself and making her family think she’s dead. But Grandma and Grandpa Sorenson consult Vanessa who ends up telling them what probably happened. So YAY Kendra isn’t dead after all though she has had a funeral. The Sphinx has found another artifact and has Kendra try and use it, it’s called the Oculus and it lets the user be all-seeing.

Maddox shows up but turns out its not Maddox and thats how Vanessa ends up getting out of the Quiet Box. I mean this all happens within the first 10 chapters. You can see why I had trouble putting this novel down. Even after that Kendra and a group of Knights have to go to Wyrmwrost in order to get the next artifact. And OHMYGOSH was this last 3/4 of the book intense. I am not even going to start explaining it because I mean, Spoilers. And the type of spoils you don’t want to be spoiled on but if you read this book you know what I am talking about and it is insane. I am on a major book hangover because this book was AMAZING! So far my favorite of the series.

If you haven’t picked this series up, stop what you are doing and go do it now. This series is up there with Harry Potter for me and one that I will be rereading often. Now I am off to finish the last one. Just keep reading!
