Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star Review

So I just finished the second installment of the Fablehaven series and I am so eager to start the third book that I can’t wait until I get off work this afternoon.

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star by Brandon Mull is the second book in his Fablehaven series and it does not have second book slump that a lot of second books have. This book started with Kendra and Seth back home with their parents a year after the first one took place. Within the first couple chapters we are whirled away back into the action.

This book kind of felt like a mystery because while they are trying to defeat the Society of the Evening Star they are trying to figure out who is working both sides. It was gripping. I loved the Agatha Christie feel to the storyline. The final battle of this book was a WAY better battle scene than the first book because Brandon Mull added more details, and more “fight sequences” (if you could call them that). I hated having to put this book down and come back to the real world.

I am highly anticipating picking up the third book and cannot wait to join this world again this afternoon. If you haven’t read these books or ever heard of them, go to your local library or book store and get them now. Start them today. They are amazing middle grade fantasy novels and Brandon Mull does not disappoint.
